The reactionof H-SD (sulfadiazine) with Zn(OAc)_2.2H_2O in water-ethanol under solvothermal reaction conditions yields crystals of Zn(SD)_2 (I) suitable for X-ray analysis and its 1-D polymeric nature is biologically relevant to the slow release of Zn~(2+) when applied in topical burn therapy.
