FLORAL CALENDAR OF HONEYBEES IN V1SAKHAPATNAM

摘要

Based on the visitation of honeybees to different plain species, honeybee flora have been identified in two study sites, namely. Andhra University Campus and Steel Plant Area. In the present study, 105 honeybee plants species have been identified in both the study sites. Of the 105 honeybee flora only 93 have been found at the Andhra University site and 101 at the Steel Plant sile. The honeybee flora have also been classified on the basis of economic importance, vegetation and plant families. Resultsshow that they consist more of medicinal plants, edible fruit trees, ornamentals, timber trees, and other types of economically and ecologically important, plants, each of which account for 2-6%. The identified honeybee plants belonged to 39 families out of which the common ones are Mimosaceae, Asteraceae, Caesalpiniaceae, Fabaeeae, Anacardiaceae, Myrtaceae, Rubiaceae and Euphorbiaceae.
