Lower demand in Asia Pacific leads to lower pigment sales at Huntsman

Huntsman says volume sales of its pigments were 16% lower in the first three months of this year compared to a year ago primarily due to lower global demand and continued customer destock-ing, particularly in the Asia Pacific region. Despite this, three month adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) were up 69% to $147 million due to higher sales and higher contribution margins. Revenue from pigment sales rose 16% in the three months to 31 March to $426 million compared to $364 million last time.
