Effect of poultry manure, sewage sludge and urban garbage compost on yield, quality and economics of groundnut, Arachis hypogaea L.

Field experiments were conducted during the summer seasons of 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 at University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore to study the effect of composted poultry manure, sewage sludge and urban garbage compost on yield, quality and economics of groundnut. Conjunctive use of inorganics and organics (25:75:40 kg N, P_2O_5 and K_2O + 10t FYM/ha) recorded higheryield (pod, haulm, oil and protein) and economics (net returns and benefit cost ratio) compared to application of organic manuresalone. Among different organic manures composted poultry manure performed better in terms of yield and economics and was followed by sewage sludge.
