Massey Energy: 2010 Bradbury Safety and Green Miner Environmental Award Winners

Massey Energy Co. announced that its Black Castle Mining Company has won the company's prestigious Bradbury Safety Award, and Long Fork Coal Company has won the coveted Green Miner Award. The winning companies were presented with the awards at Massey Energy's coal expo on March 9 at the Charleston Civic Center in Charleston, WV. The Bradbury Safety Award recognizes the Massey operating subsidiary that best exemplified the Company's commitment to safety excellence during 2009. Members at Black Castle Mining achieved an NFDL (non-fatal days lost) rate of zero by working over 668,000 hours without incurring a single lost-time injury, demonstrating Massey's commitment to being the industry's safety leader. NFDL rates are the benchmark used by the coal industry to measure safety.
