On geometric phase from pure projections

The relation between three recent experiments aimed at demonstrating a strictly geometric phase using pure projections is clarified in the light of a recent claim to such a measurement. The possibility of observing +/-2 pi phase jumps in an optical interference experiment is pointed out. [References: 25]
