Companies use low-cost chemical process to clean coal

As many as 76 coal-fired power plants are using, or soon could be using, a process the owners believe will clean up emissions from their plants at much lower costs compared with scrubbers or other alternatives. The owners of those plants have signed agreements to use processes owned by ADA Environmental Services and Chem-Mod that chemically treat coal before it is burned in order to reduce emissions.
