Cash Creek final permitting, project financing ‘under way’

On-site construction could get under way in early 2011 on the Cash Creek coal gasification and electric generating project in Henderson County, Kentucky, a principal with Erora Group, the project developer, told Platts February 16. Michael McInnis said his Louisville, Kentucky-based company is wrapping up permitting for the $2 billion project and is “under way in our financing activities. If everything goes smoothly, we’d like to be in position by the end of this year to have financial closing and to start construction. The reality is that when you close financing, that’s typically viewed as the start of construction,” although actual work probably will not commence until early next year.
