The passage of the Affordable Care Act by Congress 1 year ago has quickened the development and adoption of alternative payment models around the country. Some states, like Massachusetts, are moving quickly to encourage adoption of legislation that would codify changes in the payment delivery model in an attempt to reduce the ever-increasing cost of health care. In this new world, there are 2 questions for nurses to contemplate: What will this mean for financing nursing? How might nursing practice change?
