摘要

In accordance with the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, having served two terms as president, George W. Bush is not eligible to continue to serve as president. Reports indicate that Vice President Dick Cheney is not interested in running for president. So, early in 2007, the 2008 presidential election is emerging as a very hard-fought battle in which there is no clear favorite. At this early stage, many of the strongest candidates may have yet to even materialize. What is clear, however, is that healthcare will be a key issue during the campaign for our next president. The candidates mentioned in this article include a few of the political figures who are inviting speculation among political activists, insiders, and media commentators and who are already raising healthcare as a hot-button issue.
