The national debate on the passage of the most significant reform in the country's health care delivery system in more than a generation has been heated, praised, feared, and is now being implemented. Depending on one's political viewpoint, the new law, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Public Law 11-148), is either a much-needed change in health care or a change that some lawmakers will seek to eliminate in the next congressional session.Recognizing political viewpoints and putting them aside, what's in this new law that affects the registered nurse (RN) in practice?
