A field experiment in Maharashtra, India was conducted to study influence of sub-surface irrigation through porous pipes on the yield and quality of sugarcane. The depth of water absorbed by the system with 50 m length of porous pipe with pair row planting reported to be 101.17 ha-cm. The system saved a maximum of 52.33% water over furrow irrigation system and 17.65 over drip irrigation system. The pair row planting gave more field water use efficiency than single row planting for same length of porous pipe. The treatment of 50 m long lateral with pair row planting was better over all other treatments with brix (22.32%), pol (20.68%) and CCS (12.28%). Drip method recorded highest yield of 134.9 t ha-1 among the treatments related to porous pipe treatment. Shorter length porous pipe showed greater radial spread around the porous pipe. The 50 m long porous pipe should be adopted for greater radial spread and higher sugarcane yield. The total moisture bandwidth of 60 to 65 cm was observed around the porous pipe. The moisture content close to the porous pipe was more and decreased radially from the pipe.
