Seed treatment with imidacloprid, dimethoate and their combination with one spray either of imidacloprid, oxydemeton methyl or NSKE or Verticillium lacani revealed that seed treatment followed by NSKE spray were the most effective in keeping the whitefly incidence and yellow mosaic virus infection low and resulted in higher grain yield. However, the maximum cost:benefit ratio (1:29.5) was obtained in dimethoate seed treatment. V. lacani did not help in managing the whitefly population at low level.
