Shearer loader technology today Leading performance - The next generation of shearer loaders

More than 15 years ago Eickhoff Bergbautechnik started the development of its well known shearer loader types SL300 and SL500. These multi-motor machines replaced the generation of Eickhoff middle motor shearers which had been successfully operated for more than 20 years, and are now established worldwide. Started in 1989 as a machine for low to mid seams with 220 kW cutter motor power and 35 kW DC haulage motor power the permanent product development of the SL300 led to 480 kW ranging arms and 90 kW AC haulages today (See figure 1). Using the latest technology of manufacturing gears and implementing electrical components upgraded for mining purposes it was possible to keep the basic machine concept unchanged from the beginning. Mines like Consol Energy's Bailey Mine in USA or Xstrata's Oaky North Mine in Australia achieve production figures of 500,000 t/month with the SL300.
