Ichthyofauna and Fisheries in Devkhon Lake (Uzbekistan)

In the Bukhara oblast of Uzbekistan, natural lakes and reservoirs are used for fishing. These bodies of water have been investigated since 1953. The results of studies in the Kuyumazarskii and Tudakul'skii reservoirs, as well as in lakes Dengizkul' and Kara-Kyr were published in papers of Abdullaev (1957, 1959, 1976), Kamilov (1967, 1973), Urchinov (1973), Khasanov (1967), etc. There are, however, no published data on the newly formed lakes Ayak-Agitma, Devkhon, Khadich, and Zikri. Meanwhile, about 20-30% of the total annual catch volume of the oblast is from the aforementioned lakes.
