The kinetics of light-induced oxidation of glyoxylic acid in the presence of [Ru(bipy)(3)(2+)] as photo-catalyst have been studied. The observed kinetic rate law is given by -d[S2O82-]/dt = k(q)I(a)phi[S2O82-]/k(0)+k(q)[S2O82-] The reaction events are governed by the following scheme.
