Radiologic tests are an integral part of thework up andmanagement of patients with kidney diseases. Unfortunately, mostnephrologists arenot specificallytrainedin the basis of these tests. Thus, a clear understanding ofthe use, interpretation, and appropriateness of manyradiologic tests may be lacking. Furthermore, it seemsthat clinicians and radiologists are becoming moreisolated from each other, with less time being devotedto reviewing images together and more time beingspent by clinicians simply reading radiology reports. This lack of communication is unfortunate for manyreasons. First, in almost all cases, more information canbe obtained from the radiologist in person rather thanthrough a report. Second, the specific purpose of theexamination may not be clear to the radiologist fromthe request and may be better clarified in person. Third, the appropriate test may not have been obtained.
