Romania’s ArcelorMittal Galati to raise its presence in Eastern Europe

Romanian plate producer ArcelorMittal Galati is planning to expand production by upgrading its BF. The company’s plans are supported by limited supplies of plate in Eastern Europe. Over the past three years ArcelorMittal has invested $90 million into Galati, of which $10 million were invested last year. In August 2014 the only operational blast furnace No.5 produced record amount of steel. The company did not announce the exact volume. According to Metal Expert data, design capacity of BF No.5 is 2 million tpy. By 2015 ArcelorMittal Galati intends to increase the output by 15%.
