The Azov and Black Sea freight markets have become calm in early January. Major regional exporters managed to close most contracts before the New Year holidays and business activity is unlikely to start recovering gradually until next week. Freight rates have generally remained unchanged, but as transportation demand has slackened, deals are frequently made at prices by $1-2/t lower than market levels.
