IAP and death receptors-targeted therapies in bladder cancer.

摘要

Deregulation of apoptosis in tumor cells is one of the essential alterations that have been identified to lead to malignant transformation. Evasion of normal programmed cell death is a hallmark of perhaps all types of cancer. The resistance to apoptosis in tumor cells hinders the success of cancer therapy. To overcome therapeutic resistance, researchers have to discover new cytotoxic agents that can circumvent the cell death pathways that are blocked in tumors, or activate the apop-totic pathways still operative in specific types of cancer cells.
