Common Problems with Residential Air Conditioning in A Hot, Humid Environment

Hlight patina of visible microbial growth on the horizontal surfaces of a home signals improper moisture control. This growth is often attributed to the air conditioning system and can be interpreted by the insured as a short-term event. Many conditions diminish air conditioning system performance, most occurring over an extended period of time (weeks or months). Though some homes have dedicated dehumidification for moisture control, most homes rely on a heating venting and air conditioning (HVAC) system as the only mechanical system that controls both temperature (sensible heat) and moisture content (latent heat). There are ten common problems to an air conditioning system in hot, humid environments are described below.
