The current energetic and enthusiastic interest in fascia is almost palpable and this is an optimistic and inspiring time for therapists who are motivated to achieve the best possible outcomes for those with pain and dysfunction. The tools and approaches available to practitioners, who are skilled in positively influencing the symptoms and signs presented to them, are diverse but with much in common. What is known about how the connective tissues of the human body behave is well described and logically collated, not least through the clarity provided by the contributors to the popular fascial research congresses. This, then, is time to take stock and to organise our thoughts on the emergent evidence about connective tissue science, to identify how we might organise this knowledge to inform our therapeutic decisions and to enable us to rationally extrapolate the elements which can be applied to practice.
