Langevin's response to Stecco's fascial nomenclature editorial

The Editorial by Stecco makes an important point: indiscriminate usage of the term "fascia" in reference to various types of connective tissue leads to confusion. Furthermore, inconsistent usage of anatomical terms makes it difficult to compare results across research studies and to draw generalized conclusions. This is a serious problem that will slow progress if not addressed.It is therefore urgent to develop consensus in this area and adopt consistent terminology that will allow the field of fascia research to mature. Importantly, recommendations for using consistent terminology will be universally adopted only if people understand why this is needed, and agree to adhere to the terminology. The first three Fascia congresses have demonstrated the presence of a vigorous and engaged group of researchers and clinicians who care deeply about advancing the field. This collective enthusiasm must be harnessed in order for progress to occur.
