Hydroacoustic surveys on temporal and spatial distribution of fishes in the section from Chenglingji to Yichang of the Yangtze River middle reaches
Hydroacoustics are widely and eectively used for assessing riverine sh resources (Duncan and Kubecka, 1993, 1994; Ohshimo et al., 1998; Kevin et al., 2007). In China, for example, hydroacoustics have been applied to assess pollock resources in the northern Pacic (Tang et al., 1995), shery resources in the South China Sea (Chen et al., 2005), in Qinghai Lake (Zhang, 2005; Tan et al., 2009), as well in the Three Gorges Reservoir and its tributaries (Tao et al., 2008; Tan et al., 2009; Wang et al., 2009). Thus it is time to expand hydroacoustic studies to evaluate the sh resources in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, in particular between Chenglingji and Yichang.
