The question of how the "boomer" generation will affect the economic and cultural life of the nation as they grow older is of considerable interest to Professor Haber in his article "Gerontology: Adding an empowerment paradigm." This is a topic of interest to me, and I imagine to readers of Journal of Applied Gerontology too. Divining the impact this cohort will make on society, and on gerontology specifically, is a worthy goal. How will the boomers choose to spend the last decades of their lives? Will they fundamentally alter what it means to be retired? I applaud Professor Haber for tackling such an important topic.
