The Larva of Asaperda kani HAYASHI (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae)

The larva of Asaperda kani HAYASHI is firstly described in comparison with A. agapanthina BATES and A. rufipes BATES. The dorsal pigmentation on cranium and pronotum, and the shape of labial palpus are the diagnostic characters for determination of the Asaperda larvae. Seven species of the genus Asaperda BATES are known to occur in Japan, viz. A. agapanthina BATES, A. kani HAYASHI, A. bicostata HAYASHI, A. wadai MAKIHARA, A. rufipes BATES, A. tenuicornis KOMIYA and A. silvicultrix TOYOSHIMA et IWATA,of these only two species, A. agapanthina and A. rufipes have so far been known their larval morphology (KoJIMA, 1956; TSHEREPANOV, 1983). Recently, I was able to examine the larvae of A. kani through the courtesy of my entomological friends. In this paper, I will describe the larva of A. kani in comparison with A. agapanthina and A. rufipes, and also review a diagnostic character of the Asaperda larvae.
