Description of a New Genus Papualimosina (Diptera, Sphaeroceridae) from the Australasian Region

A new genus, Papualimosina, is described from Papua New Guinea. Leptocera (Scotophilella) longidiscoidalis DUDA, 1925 is redescribed as a type species of the genus Papualimosina. After ROHACEK's work (1982, 1983a, 1983b and 1985) of re-classificationon the genera of the subfamily Limosininae, many genera were constituted in the family Sphaeroceridae. These re-classification have been made mainly based on the Palaearctic, Nearctic and Neotropical species up to the present. Other than these regions, these procedures are still insufficient, and the generic placements of rather many species are still uncertain (ROHACEK et al., 2001).
