Pamphilius balteatus (Hymenoptera, Pamphiliidae), a Leaf-rolling Sawfly Feeding on Rosa acicularis in Hokkaido

A leaf-rolling savvfly, Pamphilius balteatus (FALLEN), previously known only by one specimen in Japan, was reared from a larva feeding on the leaf of Rosa acicularis LINDL. in Takadomari, Fukagawa City, in northern central Hokkaido. This is the firstrecord of the host plant of this sawfly in Asia. Larvae of three rose-feeding species of Pamphilius known in Japan are compared. New collection records of P. balteatus are given from Hokkaido.
