Control room thinking for offshore safety

One way to maintain the safety and reliability of a system is to have teams in charge of it, said Dr Emery Roe of the Centre for Catastrophic Risk Management, University of California, Berkeley. More precisely, to have control room personnel with a legal mandate to keep the system running safely and reliably, who are continually monitoring the system, with the expertise and capability to fix problems in real time and try to keep everything as far from risk as possible.
