Modern gas turbines, especially more recent units with lean premix combustors, often referred to as dry-low NO_x (DLN) or dry-low emission (DLE) combustors, are designed to produce low levels of NO_x emissions. These systems are engineered to run on fairly specific compositions of natural gas for best performance and efficiency and are sensitive to variations in gas composition. However, it is still the case that while conventional combustors tend to be less sensitive, they can still suffer problems due to fuel variations.
