Slow Steaming Picking Up Speed: Wartsila outfits container shipping vessels with slow steaming kits

A.P. Moller Maersk Group (APMM), a shipping company with more than 500 vessels for container shipping, has ordered 34 slow steaming kits from Wartsila, The vessels to be fitted with the kits are powered by Wartsila RT-flex96C and RTA96C main engines with 10, 11 and 12 cylinders. The slow steaming kits were developed to reduce both fuel consumption and CO_2 emissions, said Wartsila, which will install the units for APMM.
