Evolution of size and shape of mullite crystallites in triaxial porcelains

A microstructural X-ray diffraction analysis involving prevalent crystallite shapeand volume weighted crystallite size for mullite of two formulations of triaxial whitewareporcelain at different temperatures has been performed. The difference between formulationsis the addition of petalite. Prism approximation for crystallites shows a preferential growth ofcrystallites for the formulation with petalite addition.
