The Hebei region or China is a flat and fertile plain fringed by mountains lying 200 miles north of the country's capital Beijing.Much of the area looks as it would have done 100 years ago - small villages made up of low brick homes with backyards housing pigs, an occasional cow and a patchwork of strips of land growing a wide variety of grain and vegetable crops.
