New variations on the LnCl(3)(L)(n) (L = tetrahydrofuran or 1,2-dimethoxyethane) structural theme - NdCl3(dme)(2) and YbCl3(thf)(3,5)

NdCl3(dme)(2) is a chloride bridged dimer [NdCl2-(mu-Cl)(dme)(2)](2), the First example of this structural type in the LnCl(3)(dme)(n) system, whereas YbCl3(thf)(3,5) has the structure [YbCl2(thf)(5)][YbCl4(thf)(2)], thereby extending this arrangement with a seven coordinate cation to an element previously giving only six coordinate LnCl(3)(thf)(n) complexes.
