In teh chemical industry,fuel and power costs are usually a small fraction of the rotal cost of production,but are often a very significant fraction of the value added(sales minus raw materials)or marginal cash cost of production.Porcess facility owners are increasingly adopting cogeneration,or combined heat and power systems,integral with the facilities to insulate themselves from the volatility of the grid electriciyt prices and reducoverall energy costs.
