The future of European refining is clearly linked to the adapt ability of its refineries to new market structures.Over the past two decades,the major challenge has been to produce clean fuels,particularly gasoline and diesel.These challenges are continuing,as shown by the time schedule for fuel sulfur specifications listed in Table 1.
