摘要

It's easy to think that, with the rise of grow your own, we are all now better informed as a nation about where our food comes from. But according to a recent survey, 29 per cent of under-16s believe oats grow on trees, while one in every six young adults thinks eggs are a core ingre-dient of bread. So there is still plenty to do in order to put people back in touch with the origins and seasonality of theirfood. At The Vyne, the Na-tional Trust's Tudor manor house near Bas-ingstoke, head gardener Nick Lightfoot has ambitious plans to achieve this.
