摘要

News that Wimbledon tennis fans face a shortage of strawberries came as no surprise to fruit grower Jan Butterley. If tournament organisers knew that she had to bin tonnes upon tonnes of the fruit they would be seeing red. As it is, Butterley is seeing red and will continue to do so long after the rain has stopped play in south London. The cause of her angst - and Wimbledon's shortage - is in part a government that insists on meddling with laws on migrant workforces (HW, 28 June).
