While most growers had to face massive problems with the weather this summer it has given a surprising boost to producers of English and Welsh wine. Heavy rain that has damaged other crops arrived while grapes, fortunately, were still in their hard berry stage. And now growers are looking to a good harvest in October. The news is good all round for the 360-plus vineyards covering more than 920ha - which saw an increase in more than 120ha during last year.
