Working to conserve native flora

The news that nearly one in five of Britain's wildflower species is under threat (HW, 12 May) made the front pages of the national, as well as the specialist press last month. The Vascular Plant Red Data List for Great Britain, published by the JointNature Conservation Committee (JNCC) and described as the most comprehensive study ever conducted into the country's flora, made alarming reading.
