I am researching the history associated with the naming of Bowen Island, which is located off the southern tip of the island of Palawan in the Philippines. Was it named after Lieutenant Richard Bowen who was the naval agent on board the ship Atlantic on a voyage from Port Jackson (Sydney Harbour) to Calcutta in 1791.
