Many of our readers have, no doubt, ordered plants from Logee's Greenhouses in Danielson, CT. But for those that have never visited - it is well worth a visit - the greenhouses are fascinating to tour. The first thing that hits you as you walk in thedoor is the humidity and warmth. In the middle of winter it is especially welcome. Go through the sales hall, if the New England style open room could be called that and enter the greenhouses. The aisles are barely wide enough to walk down and many plants are rooted directly into the soil. It is a pleasant surprise to get halfway down the main greenhouse and find a giant Ponderosa Lemon tree that has been there for more than one hundred years. Next to it an orange tree adds a profusion of oranges to themix. Squeeze down the aisle just little farther and you come across a giant staghorn fern wedged firmly in a large tree, its fronds are so long that they almost touch the ground.
