Parasitization of Nezara viridula (L.) eggs by the egg parasitoid Trissolcus spp.

Nezara viridula (L.) is a polyphagous multivoltine seed sucking bug. It is probably the most studied phytophagous pentatomid because of its worldwide distribution and importance as a pest of several cultivated crops. The bugs are long lived and they frequently move from one plant to another and often from one species to another damaging a wide variety of fruit, nut, grain and vegetable crops. The population of this widely distributed bug is naturally regulated by several predators and parasitoids. Walker (1988) reviewed 57 parasitoids of N. viridula from all over the world, among which 41 species were egg parasitoids. These parasitoids belong to the orders Diptera and Hymenoptera.
