摘要

In vegetable crops like cowpea, lablab, bhendi etc harvesting of pods at right time and stage, to secure maximum quantity of high quality seed is very important. Harvesting the seed crop at the optimum stage of maturity not only minimises the loss in viability and vigour of seeds but also prevents the seeds from field damages due to adverse environmental conditions as well as from insects and fungal damages (Matthews, 1973). To determine the optimum stage of harvesting the pods for Seed purpose an experiment was carried out in the Department of Seed Science and Technology, Coimbatore during January, 1994 with cowpea cv. Co 2. Recommended package of practices were followed and at harvest the following treatments were imposed.
