Micronutrients and cytozyme on grain yield and dry matter production of soybean

Soybean is described as the wonder legume, since it contains 40 per cent protein and 20 per cent oil. The importance of this crop both for its oil and protein content is being increasingly realized in India too. Soybean crop is grown under different soils with varying soil characteristics. The micronutrient levels in these soils are different and the requirements of micronutrients fo rsoybean are varying. It is therefore necessary to determine the crop response to application of micronutrient either singly or in combination and by different methods of application such as soil application or foliar spray. The use of growth regulators in increasing crop production is also becoming popular. Cytozyme is a plant growth promoter, produced by Southern Petrochemicals Industries Corporation Limited, Tamil Nadu. It can be used as crop plus because of the ease with which it can be applied through foliar spraying. Information on the response of soybean to application of certain micronutrients by different methods and cytozyme is generally lacking. Hence, a study was initiated with COl soybean as the test variety in an Inceptisol to determine the effect of micronutrients and cytozyme on the grain yield and dry matter production.
