New NAAQS Process Would Check the Role of Science Advisors

Just before the U.S. EPA announced Thursday a new process for updating national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS), we reported that the update would likely reflect recommendations by the American Petroleum Institute (API). API recommended last spring that senior EPA managers should have input into mainly scientific documents prepared early in every NAAQS review.
