GM Boss Unsure if Lithium-Ion Battery for PHEVs Can Last 10 Years

In his person web-log unveiled Jan. 7, General Motors Vice-Chairman Bob Lutz reveals that GM still doesn't know whether the lithium-ion battery touted for plug-in electric hybrid (PHEV) cars will prove to be commercially viable. "There's no way we can predict how these batteries will perform over 10 years based on only two months of testing, but I can assure you, there will be a point in time when we have the full confidence that our solution will reach this goal," Lutz said.
