EIA: World Energy Consumption to Grow 50% by 2030

World energy consumption will climb 50% between 2005 and 2030 if current policies remain unchanged, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) projected in its 2008 edition of its International Energy Outlook. Most of that consumption will occur in developing countries, or countries that are not currently members of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), EIA continued. Energy demand in non-OECD countries is projected to grow by 85% by 2030, while OECD energy use is expected to increase by 19%.
