VALERO ROLLS OUT 625 MILLION REFINING PLAN FOR 2006

Valero Energy Corp. last week said it plans to spend 625 million on refinery projects next year.The largest expenditure, 240 million, will go to a hydrocracker/hydrogen project at the company's St. Charles, La., refinery. Some of that money will also go toward strategic programs and Tier 2-compliance, the company revealed in a presentation at the Lehman Brothers Energy Conference.
