Offshore applications in the oil and gas sector can be a severe environment for high-power electric motors. Oil production in deep-sea fields off the Brazilian coast is especially demanding because the oil is not only located over 1,000m below sea level, but also covered by a salt layer up to 2,000m thick. To overcome these significant challenges, WEG specifically adapted its MGF 560 motors to cope with the adverse conditions.
